ANTIBIOTIC REQUESTS: In accordance with NHSCT guidelines, the practice will no longer be able to issue antibiotics for any purpose (ie: coughs, chest infection etc). It will be necessary for the patient to attend either a Nurse or GP for assessment. In the case of a suspected kidney/urine infection a urine sample must be left in for analysis.

Nurse Tara McCambridge (f)

Nurse Practitioner Mrs Tara McCambridge BS (Nursing) is trained in the management of Asthma, Diabetes, Coronary Heart Disease, Breast & Cervical Screening & Smoking Cessation. She carries out the following clinics, by appointment: Asthma/Spirometry Diabetic Coronary Heart Disease Well Women & Cervical Screening New Patient Health Checks Over 75 Screening Smoking Cessation Weight Management.  

Tara has obtained her Nurse Practitioner Diploma for University of Ulster and can prescribe independently.  Tara routinely consults patients with common complaints such as sore throats, ears, chest infection, minor injuries etc.

Access to the Nurse Practitioner for telephone advice

When a patient telephones to speak with the Nurse Practitioner the Receptionist will clarify who is calling and transfer the call through to the nurse.  If the nurse is unavailable the patient's details will be taken by the receptionist in order for the Nurse Practitioner to return the call.

Nurse Gemma Campbell (f)

Treatment Room Nurse - Mrs Gemma Campbell BSc Nursing;  Gemma carries out a wide and varied role within the treatment room including: dressings, BP checks, Bloods, Cryotherapy, Travel injections and Childhood immunisations, ECGs, Doppler studies, Helicobacter breath tests, assisting GP's with minor surgery etc.  Gemma has recently completed a course in spirometry which enables her to carry out lung function testing to aid in the management and diagnosis of lung conditions.  Gemma has also completed a smoking cessation course and can assist anyone who is trying to stop smoking.  Appointments can be made with Gemma either on-line under treatment room or by telephoning reception.

Eilish is now a qualified healthcare assistant. Eilish has been trained and is qualified to take bloods, bloods presssures, spirometry tests, doppler studies and ecgs. Eilish enjoys this area of work very well and has great support from Nurse Campbell and Nurse McCambridge.
